How Your Support Helps Medicare Rights Assist Older Adults and People with Disabilities

Today we wanted to share some of the Medicare Rights Center’s recent successes helping older adults and people with disabilities. Although we are busy in our nation’s capital, working to protect and strengthen access to affordable health care, our work directly assisting people with Medicare continues unabated.

Ms. C, from Selden, NY, suffers from early stages of dementia. She called Medicare Rights’ helpline overwhelmed by threatening letters that she was getting from a diagnostic center about a complicated billing issue. Medicare Rights helped resolve the problem, and in the end, Ms. C was not responsible for the bill. Still, thousands of others are calling our helpline with similarly complex Medicare issues—and we need your help to provide the quality assistance they deserve.

While a donation of any amount would be very much appreciated to help people like Ms. C who turn to us for assistance, it would be especially helpful if you would consider supporting Medicare Rights on a monthly basis at this time. We need monthly contributions to ensure that everything we do is supported year-round.

In the past year alone, Medicare Rights answered 20,000 questions on our free, multilingual helpline, secured $6 million in Medicare benefits for our clients with low-incomes, and educated hundreds of thousands of people about Medicare at presentations nationwide.

Here’s how your monthly support would assist us with this critical work:

    • $5/month provides free phone counseling to anyone seeking Medicare answers.
    • $10/month helps us enroll a client in programs that make health coverage more affordable.
    • $20/month provides free assistance to a client appealing a denial of coverage.
    • $50/month supports specialized expertise and follow-up on our most complicated cases.

With a monthly donation, you can help Medicare Rights ensure expert assistance for those who need it most—like Ms. C—as we also work to protect and strengthen the Medicare program they depend on.[x_blockquote cite=”” type=”left”]“Thank you for being there for me,” Ms. C said to her Medicare Rights counselor.[/x_blockquote]You, too, can be there for Ms. C and for all of the people who call Medicare Rights’ helpline.
